Thorns

Pitching
I live with chronic pain. And I’m so used to this that I keep forgetting that it’s actually a big deal. So big that when my pain levels are up I can do almost nothing but at the same time it is like a second skin so a lot of the times I'm struggling with even seeing a connection. I didn’t even tell my new therapist that I have chronic pain for a year, for me it’s the same as I would say that I’m breathing and have lungs. Invisible disabilities and this endless war with pain are affecting my life greatly. As well as millions of lives across the globe. And with my projects I want to add some visuals to that painful story and ‘Thorns’ is about visualizing what is invisible to others. I plan a series of paintings [probably will separate them into different collections] that will show my experience. I will use thorns and roses to highlight painful joints, muscles and bones. I want to show how these invisible thorns grow inside. It will be oil on canvases, I added an example of painting below and some sketches for the ‘Thorns’ paintings.

1st test painting, example of style. Bright colors, but limited pallet, more focused on expression than on photorealistic features. This painting was created in 1 evening session.
